Located near Dorking, Surrey, Meredith has two degrees, her first in interior design and her second in architecture.
With a particular interest in period properties, Meredith’s projects range from small cottages to farms and town houses.
“My approach to interiors has become affected by my love of conservation. Embracing the house’s age, it’s history and the stories that come with it are all part of the process….. I think the key to beautiful interior design is to try and capture the spirit of the client and the essence of the space as it is.”
With a background in fashion and product development, Meredith became interested in interiors when she moved to the UK from Australia more than 20 years ago. With her experience in textiles she began working in an interior design shop in Knightsbridge, spending her days putting together fabric schemes for clients. “It was a fun way to start out and a real eye opener to the diversity of product available”.
Taking a break to have her children, she took a degree in Interior Design, starting out doing small jobs for friends and family. This quickly became a business and, with a partner, undertook residential jobs in the UK and internationally.
Meredith found she was increasingly drawn to space planning and the architectural side, particularly in buildings with a history. “Coming from a country with a relatively short architectural history, I was fascinated with the age of buildings in Europe and how the different styles developed. I would devour books on architecture and subsequently undertook a degree in Architecture at Kingston University”.
Today, Meredith continues to pursue her interest in historic buildings, combining her interior design projects, as part of the Decorbuddi team, with studying a Masters in Conservation Architecture.
“I have never lived in a modern house and my approach to interiors is certainly influenced by my love of conservation. Embracing the age of a house, its history and the stories that come with it are all part of the process…..the key to beautiful interior design is to try and capture the spirit of the client and the essence of the space”.
Meredith is located near Dorking, and works in the home counties and London, as required.
