Surrey Mews Studio Design

Our brief was to transform this mews house from a storage/office space into a studio suitable for guests to stay.

Working to a careful budget, we wanted to make sure that it felt special for visitors, in-keeping with a boutique hotel. This was achieved by creating an individual design and paying careful attention to all the details.

The starting point for the bedroom scheme, was the existing patchwork quilt.

The new cushions, make more of the quilt colours and add a touch of modernity.

The bespoke wall panelling, wardrobe finishing and furniture details, elevate the design and sense of quality.

The globe dimmable wall lights provides flexible functionality from reading to mood lighting.

The headboard was added to co-ordinate with the wall colour to allow the quilt and cushions to be the star pieces in the room.

The staircase was updated to coordinate with the open plan kitchen area. We chose wide plank wood flooring for the kitchen, that looks great and enabled us to take it across the stairs also.

The new kitchen is necessarily compact. Simple yet elegant, it will stand the test of time.

Open shelves add warmth and ensure that the units don’t dominate. Rather, the kitchen flows seamlessly into the adjoining living space.

LED lighting tucked into the shelves provides excellent light above the work surfaces and ambient light in the living area.

Storage was added under the stairs as well as in the entrance hall to allow foldable chairs and all coats and shoes to be hidden and the downstairs space to be clutter free.

Floating shelves and wall mounted WC in the bathroom increases the sense of space.

Gorgeous green wall and mosaic floor tiles add interest and personality. Black details and round mirror keep the look contemporary.

Client Testimonial:

“It has been a real pleasure working with Amanda, who has recently helped me with two different refurbishment projects. She is highly professional, responsive and reliable and her involvement has no doubt saved huge amounts of time and stress, whilst producing a far better result than we could have on our own. I loved her designs and felt she interpreted our taste and needs really well, whilst keeping a close eye on costs and budget. I would not hesitate to recommend Amanda and hope to work with her again on future house projects.”
