Statement Designs & Quality Craftmanship – Our Pick from Decorex International
There was a buzz in the air as the Design Community came together once again at Decorex International. With over 400 emerging and established brands showcasing their latest designs, it was wonderful to be able to look and feel the quality of the craftsmanship and materials.
From statement lighting and art deco sofas to handcrafted curtain poles and bespoke joinery, we share some of our favourite brands for you to keep in mind in your own future projects.
Elstead Lighting
Established in 1969 and based in Hampshire, Elstead Lighting boasts a huge collection of interior and exterior lighting. Described as British with a strong American influence, they create unique and decorative lighting for not just homes, but hotels, coffee bars and public spaces. Although mostly manufactured in the UK, their glassware originates from Portugal, for which they are renowned for. One of their best sellers are the ‘Brinley’ lights, as shown above, inspired by mason jars.
Byron & Byron
Produced in the UK and based in Enfield, Bryon & Byron hand-craft decorative curtain poles in a variety of materials and colours. From classical designs to contemporary, there are plenty of opportunities for versatility and flexibility, including a bespoke service. They were founded in 1984 when the interest in interior design began to rapidly grow. Their best selling collection includes ‘Rustica’ as shown above, as well as their new floral ranges, ‘Romantics’ and ‘Neon’.
Tetrad
Tetrad are an upholstery company that have been around for over 50 years. All of their sofas, stools and chairs are meticulously handcrafted in their workshop in Lancashire. They launched their daughter brand, Spink & Edgar in 2017. Described as “glamorous modern classics with an art deco twist” they fuse classical shapes with bold colours and patterns – think vibrant purples paired with chic floral prints.
HUX
HUX are a London based company focusing on bespoke joinery. Initially an in-house joinery division of Zulufish, they became fully established in 2017. Their specialities lie with kitchens, bars and shaker style cabinets. Everything is crafted in their workshop close to Heathrow airport, where they are constantly integrating the latest trends with colour, texture and materials. HUX have a seven stage process with all their production, which includes aftercare.
Domkapa
Specialising in upholstery and beds, Domkapa are a Portugal-based brand that have been around since 2009. They describe themselves as the brand where “design meets comfort”. Their products are re-interpretations of classics, with a contemporary influence. Each product is hand-stitched using high quality materials. Their sister brand Laskasas also shares the concept of contemporary without forgetting classical elements, and create furnishings for every part of the home.
Cameron Design House
Specialising in statement and structural lighting, Cameron Design House was founded in 2014 and they’re based in St John’s Wood. Their newest piece was ‘Halti’, made of hand-blown glass pearls. All their products come in different finishes, allowing for maximum personalisation. Their sister brand, Empty State was launched only this year, with their latest piece ‘Pill’ showcased at Decorex. This also comes in a range of colours, and can be bought as a set or on its own.
Sir William Bentley Billiards
Based and handmade in the UK, Sir William Bentley Billiards specialise in bespoke billiard tables. These are a perfect addition to any entertainment space. What initially began as the restoration and renovation of antique tables 40 years ago developed into crafting unique billiards. They also discovered the dual purpose dining and billiard tables that were once incredibly popular during the Victorian era, and began to reproduce those very tables.
