Bethan combines a strong creative vision with extensive practical renovation experience. Trained in textiles and interiors, she began her career by establishing her own luxury knitwear label, developing a sophisticated understanding of colour, texture, proportion and craftsmanship. This background now informs her interior design work, helping her create original, carefully considered schemes with a distinctive sense of character.
Her experience encompasses the renovation of period properties spanning Georgian, Victorian and Art Deco architecture, as well as the transformation of apartments and family homes and the ongoing restoration of her own Grade II listed Georgian house in Malmesbury. Working closely with period buildings has given Bethan a thorough understanding of the creative and practical decisions required to take a project from its earliest ideas through to a beautifully resolved interior, while responding confidently to the challenges that older properties can present.
Bethan begins each project by understanding how her clients live and what they want their home to become. She has a particular ability to identify the idea that will give a design its direction, whether inspired by an original architectural feature, a treasured artwork, a distinctive material or a more effective layout. From there, she develops a coherent and highly individual interior that balances beauty and functionality with the character of the property.

“When we first approached Bethan, our London flat in Crystal Palace had become tired and uninspiring. We’d owned it for years and couldn’t decide whether to sell it, rent it, or transform it into an Airbnb that people would genuinely want to stay in. More About Bethan Juliff
From Luxury Textiles to Interior Design
Bethan began her creative career studying Textiles and Interiors, graduating with distinction before completing a degree in Fashion Knitwear and Textiles at Nottingham Trent University. Her training included a year within the British textile industry, where she developed her technical knowledge and worked with leading high-street fashion clients.
After completing a business course at the London College of Fashion, Bethan established her own luxury knitwear label. Her first collection launched at Browns in London and was subsequently featured in publications including Vogue and the Financial Times. Her move into interior design was a natural progression, giving her the opportunity to apply her understanding of material, colour, proportion and construction on a larger scale and to shape complete spaces around the people who live in them.
This experience continues to inform her interior design work, combining creative originality with an exacting attention to finish, detail and longevity.
Respecting the Character of a Property
Bethan has extensive experience of period properties, including Georgian, Victorian, listed and Art Deco homes. Her projects have involved uncovering original panelling, cornicing, fireplaces, parquet flooring and traces of historic decoration, then sensitively incorporating these features into interiors designed for contemporary life.
Her approach is not to preserve a period property as a museum piece, but to understand the qualities that give it character. She combines these with considered layouts, practical storage, appropriate materials and fresh decorative ideas to create homes that feel both authentic and relevant.
This understanding is reinforced by the ongoing restoration of her own Grade II listed Georgian home, alongside numerous renovations of period houses and apartments.
Finding the Potential in Every Space
Bethan considers how a room works as carefully as how it looks. She has a particular ability to identify possibilities that may not be immediately apparent and to find practical, imaginative ways to make better use of the available space.
Her projects have included transforming a one-bedroom flat into a three-bedroom maisonette, concealing a utility area within a kitchen, improving circulation and entrance storage within a Victorian house, and reconsidering the position of a kitchen to make better use of a newly built extension.
For the renovation of a listed Georgian townhouse, Bethan rethought the arrangement of the bedrooms to create a more successful principal suite. Her design introduced an internal window to bring borrowed light into the room and a pocket door that preserved valuable wall space.
These solutions demonstrate her ability to look beyond the existing arrangement and create interiors that are more practical, comfortable and enjoyable to live in.
Colour, Texture and Individual Detail
Bethan does not approach a project with a predetermined aesthetic. Instead, she begins by understanding what her clients respond to, how they live and what is distinctive about their property.
She is equally comfortable developing a colourful scheme around a collection of family artwork or creating a quieter interior that frames a garden view and allows the architecture to take the lead. Her textile background gives her an instinctive understanding of how colour, pattern and texture can be layered, while her renovation experience ensures that every decision remains grounded in the practical realities of the property.
