Rosie Allen

Interior Designer

My approach to interior design has been shaped by my experience of living in Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. This time abroad broadened my perspective and made me more sensitive to the details that can enhance a home’s character, whether I am working with a Victorian terrace or a contemporary new build.

Rosie is a qualified interior designer based in Bristol, working with clients across Bristol, Somerset and the surrounding area.

She completed her Interior Design diploma in 2011 while living in Dubai, where she went on to work on residential interiors and short-term rental properties for a diverse international client base. After relocating to South Africa, she founded Congo Pink, an African-inspired homeware company that deepened her appreciation for craftsmanship, texture and natural materials.

Rosie settled in Bristol in 2018, and has since worked on a variety of residential properties, ranging from Victorian terraces to contemporary new builds.

Her experience of different countries, cultures and property types gives Rosie a broad design perspective, but her work is always rooted in the individual home and the people who live there. She takes time to understand how her clients use their space, what they want to change and how they would like their home to feel, before developing a scheme that balances character, practicality and personal style.

“I enjoy working closely with my clients to understand the influences and aspirations that matter to them, then bringing these together with the natural qualities of their property to create personal, feel-good spaces they love to live in.”

What clients say about Rosie

Interior Design, Somerset Project

“Having just moved house we were looking to make some internal changes to the decorations, layout and furnishings in several areas. We were introduced to Rosie as someone who could take on the role of project manager and adviser. What followed was a good working relationship and understanding that has greatly enhanced the house overall and given us advice in many specific areas that we have greatly appreciated.

This advice included guidance on styles and colours and included recommending and sourcing various items of furniture and lighting. In many instances we were guided to look at a specific aspect along lines that we would not have considered but which we have come to value as great solutions to the problem at hand.

Throughout Rosie has listened to our initial thoughts and then given advice which we have appreciated. We have come to rely on her guidance such that we have greatly enhanced the interior of the house.

She has also recommended and procured the services of some expert decorators and technicians to carry out works including bespoke storage solutions.

We would highly recommend Rosie as someone who can supervise and manage a complete interior enhancement process."

Interior Design, Bristol Project

“We were recommended Rosie by a family friend, and we're so glad we got in touch.

From the very beginning, Rosie took the time to listen to our ideas and truly understand our vision. She then combined our thoughts with her incredible creativity to create something even more beautiful than we could have imagined.

Not only are we absolutely thrilled with the end result, but she also made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. We couldn't recommend her highly enough!”

Interior DeCORATION, Bristol

“Rosie is one of the most natural stylists I’ve met. What more can I say!”

More About Rosie Allen

Based in Bristol and working across Somerset and the surrounding area, Rosie Allen is an experienced interior designer who creates considered, characterful homes tailored to the people who live in them. Her work combines practical space planning with a strong appreciation for colour, craftsmanship, natural materials and the fine details.

Background & Career Journey

Rosie’s interior design career began in Dubai, where she moved in 2011 and completed her Interior Design diploma. She subsequently worked with a diverse range of clients on residential interiors and short-term rental properties, adapting each design to suit different lifestyles, tastes and practical requirements.

In 2015, Rosie relocated to South Africa, where she encountered a very different design aesthetic and founded Congo Pink, an African-inspired homeware company. This experience deepened her appreciation for craftsmanship, texture and natural materials, all of which continue to influence her work today.

After moving to Bristol in 2018, Rosie established Rosie Allen Design. Since then, she has worked across a broad range of residential properties, helping clients improve layouts, develop cohesive interior schemes and create homes that feel considered, comfortable and distinctly their own.

Project Experience & Approach

Rosie’s experience encompasses Victorian terraces, contemporary new builds and homes requiring a wider redesign to improve their flow, functionality and overall character. She can provide focused support for individual rooms as well as guidance across several interconnected areas of a home.

Rosie’s work is always led by the needs and preferences of her clients. She takes time to understand how they live, what they already love about their home and what is preventing it from working as well as it could.

Craftsmanship, texture and natural materials are recurring elements within Rosie’s work, reflecting the influence of her time in South Africa. Where sustainability is important to a client, she also considers responsible materials and finishes as part of the wider design.

Notable Projects

One recent project involved transforming a contemporary home that lacked character and a natural sense of flow. Sustainability was an important part of the clients’ brief, and Rosie introduced eco-friendly paints, cushions made from recycled plastic fabrics and other environmentally conscious choices to complement the installation of heat pumps.

Opening up the kitchen and dining areas improved the connection between the spaces and brought significantly more natural light into the previously dark dining room. A warm, cohesive colour palette and new architectural details, including architraves, added depth and character throughout the living areas.

The project demonstrates Rosie’s ability to look beyond individual decorative choices and consider how layout, light, colour, architectural detail and furnishings can work together to improve the experience of an entire home.

Working With Rosie

Clients value Rosie for her ability to listen carefully, understand their initial ideas and then introduce possibilities they may not have considered themselves.
