Goji Yoga Studio
Interior Design
Goji bridges the gap between a beautiful, high end boutique studio and an accessible, friendly space to connect.
The space is designed to make you feel grounded as soon as you step foot into the studio. With warm, neutral tones in a minimalist setting, with limewash-effect walls, natural materials and gentle curved details, you instantly feel calm and focused, free from the distractions of the outside world.
The flowing linen curtains and natural light that filters through them create an ethereal and floaty vibe, whilst the equipment (in earthy and neutral colours) is top of the range.

More About This Calm & Contemporary Yoga Studio in Clapham: Designing for Movement, Mindfulness & Wellbeing
Clapham has long been one of London’s most dynamic neighbourhoods - a community where independent businesses thrive, wellness culture is growing and beautifully designed interiors are valued as much as the quality of local cafés and the green expanse of Clapham Common. Clapham Old Town in particular attracts people who want connection, creativity and calm amidst the busyness of city life.
It is the perfect setting for a boutique Yoga and Pilates studio, and this project - created for the launch of Goji Pilates & Yoga - demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can completely transform a commercial space into an environment that nurtures movement, wellbeing and community.
With warm natural tones, soft lighting, flowing drapery and carefully designed functional zones, the Goji studio is a space that both soothes and energises. Most importantly, it is a testament to how interior designers experienced in health, wellness and fitness spaces can shape environments that support the body, calm the mind and elevate the business.
Our Role in Designing the Goji Pilates & Yoga Studio
We were brought into the project at the earliest stage by founder Sam Fynn, who approached us while planning her transition from a demanding corporate career into the world of wellness. She needed a design partner who understood how to translate her personal journey - one shaped by chronic migraines, yoga practice and the desire for meaningful community - into a physical space that felt authentic, safe and inspiring.
Commercial wellness spaces are uniquely challenging: they must be beautiful, emotionally resonant and brand-led, yet also meet stringent requirements around ventilation, acoustics, storage, health & safety, fire regulations and capacity planning. Our role was to support Sam in managing this complexity and bring her vision of a grounding, accessible and uplifting studio environment to life.
Working in close collaboration with the founder and specialist trades, we helped developed the concept, material palette, layout, lighting strategy and functional zones. The design needed to feel premium yet inclusive - a sanctuary, but also a hardworking commercial space capable of hosting classes, workshops and community events.
Designing for Wellbeing: Key Considerations in Yoga & Pilates Studio Interiors
When creating a studio environment centred on health and wellbeing, it is essential to go far beyond aesthetics. Every element - from acoustics to air flow - has a direct impact on how people feel when they step inside. In this project, we considered how to create a beautiful minimalist space without compromising practicality.
The acoustic performance of a yoga studio is vital. Hard surfaces echo, sound travels easily and distracting noise can interrupt the immersive quality of a class. By selecting sound-absorbing materials, layering textiles and using soft window treatments, we ensured the space feels quiet, cocooning and free from the ambient distractions of everyday life in Clapham. Storage also plays a central role. Pilates equipment, yoga props and class accessories must be easily accessible yet remain out of sight, allowing the studio to feel calm and uncluttered. This requires well-designed cabinetry, discreet shelving and flexible solutions that can adapt as the community grows.
Ventilation is equally important. Breathing practices, heat generated from classes and the need for fresh air all place demands on airflow systems and a hard-working air conditioning system is a must. Lighting, too, was planned intentionally - soft, warm and diffused so that the studio supports both energising morning sessions and restorative evening classes.
A Minimalist Aesthetic With Warmth & Soul
The Goji brand centres on connection, grounding and accessibility. To reflect this, the studio’s material palette supports both a sense of calm and an uplifting sensory experience. Soft neutrals, warm earth tones and natural textures form the foundation of the design. Flowing linen curtains filter sunlight to create a gentle, ethereal quality, while the introduction of handcrafted details and organic materials enhances the feeling of being held, supported and safely removed from daily stress.
The equipment selection was curated with equal care by Sam. Neutral-toned mats, bolsters and blocks ensure visual harmony, while handwoven baskets from her home country of Zimbabwe bring a meaningful personal narrative into the space. This creates not only aesthetic resonance but also connection — an essential element of any wellness environment that aims to build community.
Functionality & Flow in a Boutique Fitness Studio
A successful studio needs to feel effortless in its organisation. The seating area welcomes guests into a calm, grounded setting where they can transition out of their busy day. From there, a natural flow draws visitors into the main practice space, with no jarring visual distractions or bottlenecks. The functional requirements of a Pilates and Yoga studio - including storage for equipment, spacing between mats, lighting levels for mood shifts and pathways for instructors - were seamlessly integrated into the design.
By ensuring the layout supports the practical demands of group classes, while remaining elegant and minimalist, the finished space can transform from guided movement sessions to workshops and community gatherings with ease.
Challenges & Solutions in Designing Commercial Wellness Spaces
Every commercial renovation brings its own set of challenges, especially in the wellness sector. In this project, we needed to balance Sam’s vision of a boutique sanctuary with the realities of an urban building in Clapham. Ensuring compliance with commercial health and safety requirements, fire regulations and capacity planning all played a significant role in shaping the design.
Through clear communication and an unwavering focus on both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the space, we helped Sam to overcame these challenges - and the resulting space satisfies regulatory expectations while feeling soft, calm and beautifully curated.
Why Clapham Is the Perfect Setting for Wellness Design
Clapham’s vibrant, health-focused community, its proximity to green spaces and the increasing demand for integrated wellbeing experiences make it an ideal location for Yoga and Pilates studios. Residents value environments that support balance, calm and connection - qualities that stand at the core of Goji’s identity.
Designing wellness spaces in Clapham requires an understanding of the local architecture, the rhythm of the neighbourhood and the expectations of a community that embraces fitness culture as a lifestyle. Our experience across southwest London enables us to design commercial interiors that feel rooted in place while offering something fresh, inviting and beautifully crafted.
