OUR APPROACH
A commercial interior is a brand in three dimensions. Customers read it before they read anything you have written about yourself: what kind of business this is, how much care goes into it, whether it is worth their time. We design distinctive spaces for small, characterful businesses, so that what a founder knows about their business is something a customer can feel from the door.
That rests on practical planning as much as on look. We work through how people arrive, move through the space, browse, wait, work, relax and return, alongside the materials, lighting, furniture, colour and detail that make a business memorable. Circulation, zoning, storage, display, customer comfort and staff needs are settled early, because they are what make a space work on an ordinary day rather than only in photographs.
What we bring that a fit-out contractor does not is a residential eye. Most of our work is private homes, and in a commercial space that shows as warmth, texture and layering rather than a standardised commercial look. This is not a one-size-fits-all corporate fit-out. It is design for businesses that care about personality, atmosphere and the experience they give their customers.

Consultation
A conversation about the business, your customers and what you need the space to do, then a proposal covering scope, fee and timing.
Concept & Plan
The direction: layout options, zoning and circulation, with the materials, colour and lighting that set the atmosphere.
Design Detailing
Everything specified and drawn up, from joinery, display and seating to finishes and lighting, ready to price and build.
Implementation
Sourcing, ordering and coordination of the trades, sequenced around your trading, through to opening.

A contemporary update for an established Cotswolds food business

Our commercial projects are led by the same experienced interior design team behind our residential work.
We bring strong space-planning, sourcing, lighting, colour, materials and joinery skills, alongside a practical understanding of how people move through and use a space day to day. Working closely with each business owner, we create interiors that reflect their individual brand and character while supporting customer experience and the realities of running the business.

We are opening our first premises. Is it too early to bring in a designer?

It is usually the best time. Decisions made before you sign or fit out, about layout, circulation and what the space has to do, are the ones that are expensive to undo later. We are just as often brought in to refresh somewhere that has been trading for years, but on a first premises the design work has more to change.
Do you work with small independent businesses, or only large projects?

Independent businesses are most of what we do. Our commercial work has mainly been for owner-run businesses: a family food shop, a boutique yoga studio, a tennis club, a boutique B&B, the flagship nursery for a chain of children’s nurseries, a wine bar and hospitality venues. That kind of project is where a designer makes the biggest difference, because the decisions are being made by the person whose money and reputation are in the room.
How is a commercial project different from designing a home?

Commercial design has to work hard for the business as well as look right. Alongside creating a distinctive, welcoming atmosphere, we consider brand identity, customer journey, staff workflow, display, durability, accessibility and the practical demands of daily trading.
Will I have to close while the work is done?

Not always, and where you do we plan for it. Some projects can be phased so part of the space keeps trading. Others are better done in one closed period that is as short as possible. We agree which of those it is at the start, before anything is committed, so you can plan around it.
