Edwardian Property In Putney
Reconfiguration & Renovation
Our client purchased a charming Edwardian home in Putney that was full of character but in need of modernisation. With a clear vision in mind, they turned to us to bring it to life.
Working in close collaboration, we reconfigured the first floor to create a luxurious suite with bedroom, en-suite bathroom, and bespoke walk-in wardrobe.
On the ground floor, we transformed the layout by relocating the dark, central kitchen to the rear of the house, opening it up to the garden. This created a light-filled hub at the heart of the home, seamlessly connecting inside and out. The move also freed space for two distinct seating areas: a cosy TV snug within easy reach of the kitchen, and a more formal conversational corner overlooking the garden through a striking new Crittall-style window.
The result is a thoughtfully reconfigured home that balances comfort, style, and functionality - perfectly tailored to modern family living while honouring its Edwardian character.

Our design embraces these local architectural features while enhancing the layout for a busy family.

We also sourced trusted contractors, including builders and specialist craftspeople, produced design drawings, and co-ordinated the implementation to ensure a seamless experience from concept to completion.
Rooms Included in This Project
This project covered several key spaces within the home: open-plan kitchen and dining area with snug, master bedroom ensuite with bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, cloakroom and garden design to space for interior and exterior entertaining.
Each space was reimagined to flow beautifully as part of a family-friendly layout.
Design Style & Inspiration
The design style can be described as colourful classic with a twist. We layered fresh, uplifting colours with rich pattern and texture to enhance the home’s character. Patterned textiles and bold accents bring energy to the interior, while antique pieces add a sense of history that complements the Edwardian bones of the property. The result is a home that feels both refined and full of life - a contemporary interpretation of classic Putney charm.
Materials, Colours & Finishes
We combined warm natural materials with playful patterns and rich colour stories inspired by the home’s period features. Traditional details are balanced with modern touches, including the new crittall-style windows in the kitchen extension, introducing a graphic element that frames views of the garden and floods the space with natural light.
Furniture, Lighting & Sourcing
Each piece was carefully selected to bring personality and depth to the interior - from bespoke joinery to handpicked antiques. We mixed beautifully crafted contemporary furniture with vintage finds to create a sense of longevity and authenticity. Patterned fabrics, statement lighting and unique accessories add character throughout.
Challenges & Solutions
The key design challenge was creating a cohesive flow between traditional architecture and the newly extended open-plan space. Through thoughtful layout planning, careful material choices and the introduction of crittall windows, we successfully linked the old and new areas while making the home feel brighter, more spacious and connected to the garden. Our detailed project coordination helped keep the renovation running smoothly from start to finish.
